A test & evaluator engineer working in the car industry has to drive at the highest standard within their area of development. The consequence of their decisions ultimately ends up in your hands, literally.
Testing components on a car, evaluating their effect, positive or negative, is a subjective process. That process must therefore be robotically controlled by the driver to ensure consistency across each & every test.
Industry test & evaluators are taught to be the constant behind the wheel to replicate their driving at every point throughout every part of every test, every time. This robotic isolation controls subjectivity, making the effect of a component change, positive or negative, stand out objectively.

A qualified test engineer, at the top of their game, is expected to drive a lap of the Nurburgring on an Industry Pool Day, without any unnecessary inputs.
A durability driver on the Nurburgring needs to be able to drive a lap within 10% of a target lap time, repeatedly – this could be for 70 laps.

LEGAL
FLEET & ADVANCED
To deliver any driver training on the public highway for reward, it is a mandatory legal requirement that our instructors are Approved Driving Instructors (ADI), licensed by the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
Our instructor team are proud to have taught many 17 year olds & above during their careers, developing their passion & most importantly, their understanding - nurturing drivers at all levels.
The follow-on qualification once held, allows instructors to work with corporate organisations, delivering Driving for Work on road coaching & assessment.
Competency standards rechecked, the DVSA carry out quinquennial check tests on every licenced instructor, ensuring our standard expectations remain at the highest level.
This advanced driving test grades drivers as Bronze, Silver or Gold with retests taking place every 3 years.
Gold is only awarded to drivers who demonstrate a consistent high driving standard throughout the test, considered by RoSPA to be the highest civilian driving qualification. A thorough understanding of the Roadcraft principles is a must, with the ability to demonstrate all principles in your driving.
Each member of the CAT team holds the Gold standard.

RECOVERY
Using the latest Cedegrens Swedish designed & built skid technology mounted to modern Honda saloon cars, gives you the opportunity to experience driving in the wet, ice & snow at the touch of a button.
Skid Car UK only allow qualified instructors to use this primary method to explore skid prevention.
