At CAT Driver Training, giving back is at the heart of what we do. Our annual Charity Smiles Pot Smash has once again brought our community together, raising £1,260 for The Stars Appeal Neonatal Unit at Salisbury District Hospital. The proceeds from our book sales also contributed a further £1,009.95 to Mission Motorsport, supporting wounded, injured, and sick service personnel through motorsport.

But this isn’t just about numbers—it’s about the lives touched and the support given.

A Unique Fundraising Tradition

The Charity Smiles Pot Smash is an initiative that has become a key part of CAT’s culture. Throughout the year, we donate £5 for every client photo taken, and many of our customers generously add their own contributions. Each December, the total amount raised is revealed live on Facebook, where one lucky client is randomly selected to choose the charity to benefit.

This year, Esme Evans was drawn from the client raffle bowl. Her choice? The Stars Appeal, a charity that holds deep personal significance.

Esme Evans

"When I was born, I spent 10 critical days under the dedicated care of the staff at Salisbury Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Their expertise, compassion, and life-saving equipment saved my life, and I wouldn’t be here today without them."

Her decision led to a £1,260 donation, helping The Stars Appeal continue its vital work supporting critically ill newborns and their families.

Supporting Life-Changing Work at The Stars Appeal

The Stars Appeal funds cutting-edge equipment and provides essential support for families staying with their babies in NICU. Neonatal Nurse Rachel Tilly shared how these donations make a difference:

“With donations like this, Stars Appeal can fund state-of-the-art equipment, provide accommodation for parents, offer aromatherapy sessions, and bring live music onto the ward—all of which help us provide the very best care to the tiniest, most vulnerable lives.”

Every contribution helps ensure that families can stay close to their babies during what is often the most challenging time of their lives.

Book Sales Supporting Mission Motorsport

Alongside the Pot Smash, our book sales fundraiser also revealed great results. Sales of Your Track Day Guide and How to Start Racing generated £1,009.95 for Mission Motorsport, a charity dedicated to helping ex-service personnel rebuild their lives through motorsport.

James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport, highlighted the impact of this support:

“Mission Motorsport provides recovery programmes for those leaving the Services, particularly those who are wounded, injured, sick, or struggling. The support of organisations like CAT Driver Training is invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful to Jo, Colin, their customers, and everyone who purchased these books.”

This ongoing partnership ensures that those who have served their country receive new opportunities through driving and motorsport.
