WHAT DO OUR BASELINE
QUALIFICATIONS
MEAN FOR YOU?

YOUR HEALTH & SAFETY IS OUR
NUMBER ONE PRIORITY

WATA Risk Assessment Principles & Practice

Trained to successfully assess & manage risk, CAT meets the current health & safety standards.

From the moment you arrive to when you leave, every aspect of your time with CAT has & is, being risk assessed.

The sole intention – to reduce potential driving incidents & any outside of the vehicle.

THE CAT USP
AUTHENTIC & EVIDENCE BASED VEHICLE DYNAMICS ENGINEERING EXPERTISE

Motor Manufacturer Driver Trainer D2, D1, C2, C1, B2, B1 & A2 Licence Standards

Professionally trained to OEM standard, qualified to deliver sub-limit, on-limit & over-limit driver training.

CAT delivers the training required to develop individuals up to the point & beyond the limit of adhesion – grip limit. Our proven structured programmes for OEM’s & their suppliers, create robotic engineers driving to these exacting standards.

How does this translate to road, track & competitive drivers?

This knowledge & understanding brings a dimension to your driving that the OEM intended, but you may never have felt. Tuning you to the various dynamic happenings of a vehicle, while you remain the constant behind the wheel, you’ll reach your highest level of driving performance.

Motor Manufacturer Trained Vehicle Evaluator

A test & evaluator engineer working in the car industry has to drive at the highest standard within their area of development. The consequence of their decisions ultimately ends up in your hands, literally.

Testing components on a car, evaluating their effect, positive or negative, is a subjective process. That process must therefore be robotically controlled by the driver to ensure consistency across each & every test.

Industry test & evaluators are taught to be the constant behind the wheel to replicate their driving at every point throughout every part of every test, every time. This robotic isolation controls subjectivity, making the effect of a component change, positive or negative, stand out objectively.

As the content of tests become more complex, risk increases & the driving skill required becomes more advanced. Thoughts, feelings & emotional state all play their part altering repeatability, consistency & the integrity of the test in hand.

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IS OUR KNOWLEDGE FOUNDATION

THINK OF A ‘RINGMEISTER HERO

OEM Manufacturer Trained Nordschleife Vehicle Evaluator

Arguably the highest accolade to be given to a vehicle & test evaluator.

A qualified test engineer, at the top of their game, is expected to drive a lap of the Nurburgring on an Industry Pool Day, without any unnecessary inputs.

A durability driver on the Nurburgring needs to be able to drive a lap within 10% of a target lap time, repeatedly – this could be for 70 laps.

Think of a ‘Ringmeister hero …… for CAT our person at the top of our list is Dirk Schoysman.

A highly respected test & evaluator for many companies, Dirk is also the man who trained our founder & Chief Instructor, Colin.

A hero & friend.

EACH MEMBER OF THE CAT TEAM HOLDS THIS
EVIDENCE BASED QUALIFICATION TO BE CALLED A
PROFESSIONAL COACH

Coaching for Driver Development

What is the difference between an instructor & coach?

In minimal terms, instruction is detailed information about how something should be done or operated.

Coaching unlocks a person’s potential to maximise your own performance, helping you to learn rather than being taught.

The CAT team has embarked on their individual professional journey, taking recognised accredited training courses to be true coaches.

Each owns this truth, working to facilitate your learning in the most accurate precise targeted way, understanding the best possible way you learn, developing the skills you already have, advancing them, & tailoring your training to meet your needs.

SAFER THROUGH KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING

Driver Psychology & Behaviour

Understanding human performance improves our ability to communicate, building strong rapport with our clients.

Driving on the road, track, race circuit & proving ground for enjoyment, competition or work, is affected by how humans behave as drivers. How your personality & emotions affect your decisions at any time & in critical moments of stress & pressure, brings a greater dimension to your learning.

Spending two days with Dr Lisa Dorn, the Associate Professor of Driver Behaviour & Director of the Driving Research Group, at Cranfield University, the CAT team expanded their understanding of the physiological & psychological influencers inbuilt through human evolution.

Understanding the fight & flight response, gives us the knowledge to override & overcome them to be safer, reducing your driving risk.

LEGAL
FLEET & ADVANCED

DVSA ADI Licence Holders

To deliver any driver training on the public highway for reward, it is a mandatory legal requirement that our instructors are Approved Driving Instructors (ADI), licensed by the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

Our instructor team are proud to have taught many 17 year olds & above during their careers, developing their passion & most importantly, their understanding - nurturing drivers at all levels.

DVSA / RoSPA Fleet Licence Holders

The follow-on qualification once held, allows instructors to work with corporate organisations, delivering Driving for Work on road coaching & assessment.

Competency standards rechecked, the DVSA carry out quinquennial check tests on every licenced instructor, ensuring our standard expectations remain at the highest level.

RoSPA Advanced Drivers

This advanced driving test grades drivers as Bronze, Silver or Gold with retests taking place every 3 years.

Gold is only awarded to drivers who demonstrate a consistent high driving standard throughout the test, considered by RoSPA to be the highest civilian driving qualification.  A thorough understanding of the Roadcraft principles is a must, with the ability to demonstrate all principles in your driving.

Each member of the CAT team holds the Gold standard.
